Sales Tax

We have confirmed that both the State of Colorado and the City/County of Denver require our Dealers to collect sales taxes. The total sales tax you must collect is 7.72%.

City tax in Denver is 3.62%. If you are already a regularly licensed Denver vendor with a current Denver sales tax license, no additional license or fee is required.

Others are required to purchase a Denver Special Sales Tax License. Go to the Denver Special Sales Tax License page, read about the special event tax license, download the packet, fill it out, make a photocopy and send in the application with a check for $5. You will need to know the Denvention account number: 110478524. You will not receive a license in the mail, but bring the photocopy you made to Denvention in case there are questions. The packet includes a form for calculating and reporting sales tax, which you must fill out and send in by September 20th.

Dealers should collect and remit 4.1% sales tax to the State of Colorado. The Colorado Department of Revenue requires a single-use Special Event Sales Tax License. All Dealers at Denvention 3 should obtain this license, collect sales tax and file a tax return with payment by September 20, 2008. Cost of the license is $8; the fee is waived if you have a regular Colorado state sales tax license.

Download form DR-0589 (ignore the drop-down events list on this web page – we aren't in it). Print and fill out the application, and send it in with the $8 fee if applicable. Please make a copy of your prepared application and bring it to Denvention. You may not receive your permit prior to the Convention.

As usual, tax compliance agents may be at our convention to insure compliance and answer questions.

Denvention 3 is required by law to supply the state and city with a list of all vendors who attend this event. Be sure to file and pay your sales tax.
